Today

Today seemed like a good day for scrapbooking some of the Christmas photos.  Mid Week Sketch 52-12 at ScrappySketches was perfect inspiration.

I received the lovely title, sleigh and paper pieced Santa in a recent embellishment swap from cyber friends at Home and Scrapped.

Artastic blog challenge for December

The lovely Sarah Rogers is hosting this month's challenge at Artastic - check it out here.........http://artasticchallengeblog.blogspot.com.au/

This is my take on the challenge, 'School's Out!'  using lots of coloured pp and ink!

Apologies for the wonky pic!

Christmas Scrapping at SUYS.

This is the layout I have done for the December challenge at Show Us Your Stuff.
'Christmas in Summer'
The stitched felt and tulle clouds, the kite, the yellow flags and the paint are all by me, and the little orange bird is a hand made item from a swap.  Oh, and there is a hand made red crochet flower added to the embellie cluster..........not photographed (whoops)!

It's funny, but even after living in Australia for 47 years I still find it strange to have Christmas in Summer!
My page shows one of the grandies enjoying the usual Christmas holiday swim.

Keep cool!

Queen of the (cyber)Crop?

Helen, at Red Earth Scrapping has announced the winners of her month long cybercrop inspired by
The Year of the Farmer 2012.
There were challenges, quiz questions and farming stories from all over.
Such fun.
Guess who has been crowned Queen of the Crop?
Yes, me!

Don't you love the crown?
I also have a generous $30 voucher to spend in the RES shop.
Yippee!
Thank you, Helen.

Artastic blog - September challenge

SEPTEMBER CHALLENGE - "THE PROPHETIC CALAMITY" BY SHANNON CREES (GRAFFITI ARTIST)

SEPTEMBER Challenge - "The prophetic calamity" by Shannon Crees (Graffiti Artist)
Criteria – Black background and solid use of geometric patterns

This is the rather intriguing challenge set this month at Artastic.

And this is what I did with it.

My (usually) beautiful granddaughter, Beth, is seen here dressed as Zigi Zombieson for Book Week at
Gum Flat Primary School last week.

Scary, eh?

My doodly painting and pen work was inspired by the exposed brain.
I hope she is not starting a new trend!

Love you Bessie!

SUYS September challenge

The September challenge at Show Us Your Stuff is inspired by this quote
by Emilie Ahern.
'The world is full of undiscovered wonder.
Come little one, let us find them out together'

So here is my take on the challenge, the design is based on the Mid Week Sketch 28-12 from Scrappy Sketches.
My paper origami cat has a slightly evil look but it was fun to make, and was taught to me by my granddaughter, aged 8.

I have had a bit of a break from scrapping for a little while, being busy tending the garden and starting the mammoth job of painting the outside of the  house.  We are making slow progress, the garden is appreciating the new mulch and the front of the house, while looking a bit like a building site, right now, has a bit of new paint on the verandah.  Looking good, so far!  Two walls done, six more to go...............

Thanks for Thanks for dropping by!dropping by!

August layouts

The cybercrop at Home and Scrapped inspired me to complete four layouts, my own challenges (seen in the previous post) and Melissa's, two very different styles, and fun to do.

The girls at RES also had a cybercrop on the go for August, celebrating the 'Year of the Farmer'.  Here are the layouts I made for that.

Thanks for looking!

August SUYS challenge

This is the inspiration for the August Show Us Your Stuff Challenge....

And this is what I did with it..........my scalloped pp, clouds, tag and journalling card are all hand made, also the title is hand drawn.  Penny constantly has a camera in her hand, she is our own family shutter-bug!

A trip to the footy.

All the grandchildren and their parents had booked tickets for the Newcastle Sports Stadium last week, so we oldies went along to see what all the fuss is about.  My first (and possibly, last) experience of a live rugby league game.  All 29,482 of us watched the Bulldogs beat the Knights...........boooooooo!  It was cold and noisy, but all good fun.

 Mid Week Sketch #27-12

Mid Week Sketch #31-12
I used Heather's ScrappySketch designs for the two layouts of footy photos.

A scrappy weekend

The Friday night Step-By-Step challenge at Home & Scrapped is always fun.
Here is my take on this weeks challenge, using a pic of the gorgeous grand daughters, taken while on a weekend visit to Newcastle.

This was a Build-A-Page challenge done at H&S recently.
the photo is of American cyber-friend, Suzanne and me at lunch, when we met up in London last year.
A special memory!

And this one is for Heather's ScrappySketches blog.

A wild, wet, windy weekend is the perfect excuse to stay inside and scrap!

Show Us Your Stuff, July challenge

This fab paper typewriter is the inspiration for the July 'Show Us Your Stuff' challenge.

So here is my take on the challenge.  The lovely old half-timbered building is in the city of York, England, where we holidayed this time last year.
From the inspiration, I took the newsprint, colour scheme and typewriter keys
My hand made elements are the lace and book paper flowers and the gold-foiled tag with hand made butterfly.  And the painted backgound!
I found the old typewriter alphas in my stash from yonks ago, so it was good to find them a home at last!

This is my first try at a SUYS challenge, I love what they do over there at

More rain and choosing new specs

It has been five years since my eyes were checked and I have noticed over the past few months that my sight has deteriorated a fair bit.  I need to use a magnifying glass as well as my specs to read the telephone book.  So I took myself off to my local optician for a check up.  It seems that my eyes are healthy, a relief to know that there is no macular degeneration, retina damage or signs of glaucoma, but my glasses need more powerful lenses both for reading and long distance vision.
I must have tried on dozens of pairs of glasses, trying to choose new frames..........anyway, after bringing home my final three, I have made my choice.  So it is back to the optician tomorrow to order them and get my new goggles............wow, it is going to be so good to be able to see clearly again.........

Using tags from stash.............and my gorgeous girls.

 Bethie is our mini masterchef

 windmill at Sunnydale.......

use up your stash - ribbons

Friday night step-by-step
The above layouts are all Home and Scrapped challenges............go check them out.  Here.

So wet here!  The garden is soggy, the driveway a slippy-slide, and damp laundry is everywhere!  We are a bit over the grey skies...........bring on Spring!

Artastic challenge

Artastic challenge blog is inviting layouts this month, inspired by this wonderful work, using ink on silk, 'Butterfly fish' by Carla Blackman.

Here is my layout.  I used some home made Fimo sea creatures and lots of paint.......fun!

A couple more

A couple of pages featuring the Home and Scrapped retreat held in Brisbane earlier this month.  They are based on Heather's ScrappySketches designs.
I did a lot of scrapping this month but am ready for a break.  So I am off to visit the grandchildren for a few days to enjoy the school holidays with them.  Yippee!

Rider

My four year old motor bike mad Grandson rides again.  Do you like my traffic light?  This was inspired by Amy B at the retreat, and Sarah made the cog embossed duct tape behind the photo for me.  So clever.  Thanks girls!

Egg hunt at Martha's

Have just finished this layout using the fun pics taken of the grandies over Easter, all ready to go searching for the 40 chocolate eggs the Easter bunny left hidden in the garden.  Poor Easter bunny must have been drenched from the rain we had all night long!

This double page was adapted from Heather's Mid Week Sketches, numbers 14 and 15, tipped sideways to suit my photos.  Thanks Heather.  You can check out the weekly challenges at ScrappySketches.http://scrapysketches.blogspot.com.au/
