Reindeer food and a layout

The reindeer food was an idea from Helen at Red Earth Scrapping, the recipe is simply rolled oats and 100s & 1000s. I decided to make some for the grandchildren. The three year old was quite impressed, but Miss Seven whispered in her Mummy's ear "I think it's only porridge!". LOL. Today's seven year olds are all too clever!

Wow, what a busy and fun weekend I had with my mini scrap-a-thon. The June challenges over at Home and Scrapped really got the mojo flowing and I had a great time using up lots of scraps left-over from other projects. I love it when odd bits and pieces come together so well to make a page, and when little items received from scrapping friends fit in here and there, it make this hobby even more special.

A scrappy weekend

This was Mistra's challenge on Red Earth Scrapping, to use a nature photograph and a haiku poem. Tricky! The tree, a liquidambar, is the only one on our property that shows autumn colours, I can see it from my kitchen.

This was the step by step class that Kate put up for us on RES, a fun LO, thanks for organising the kit, Kate.

On Home and Scrapped, Kerri and I were asked to set the challenges. This one was my 'do it yourself background' page, using found items from around the home. Fun and messy, I love it. The pic is of Penny's homestead with it's smart new cladding taken at Easter.

This was my second challenge, a scraplift, using a page torn from a lovely home magazine. These fresh yellows and blues are a classic colour combo.

This is my layout for the April title challenge

'You Are The Sunshine Of My Life'.

The colours are not looking half as nice as they do IRL, must be the camera........or the photographer!

This is my take on the technique challenge. I used the title and chipboard embies as masks, sprayed with Tattered Angels glimmermist in Olive Vine, then added the same chippy over the top. The flowers have been texture pasted and sprayed too.
The journalling is all about the reasons why I scrap, and one of the good reasons is meeting cyber friends like Kim at the Scrapsidaisy Retreat at Wingham last month.

Over at H&S, Heather puts up four challenges per month. She keeps us busy!
I am looking forward to tackling the May challenges now and taking part in the Cybercrop coming up on 21st-22nd May, where I will be designing a couple of the challenges.

Colour challenge layout

The April colour challenge at Home and Scrapped was to use lime green, white and purple.

I used some of the pictures Penny gave me of the girls, while I was up there for the Easter hols.....thanks, Penny, photos of my gorgeous girls always make me smile.

I tried making flower centres from old zippers which I found at the local Vinnies for 50c each.

Today is rainy and bleak so I have decided to tackle yet another unfinished quilt which needs some hand quilting. I love to have a quilt on my knees to sew when the weather is chilly! I never quilt in the summer, it is far too hot for such things! My hands are now sore and achy, but quite a bit has been completed. I am thinking the rest might have to be done by machine! This will eventually belong to one of the grandchildren so the machine stitching might be up to more wear and tear.

I had a great time popping in on the Scrapsidaisy Wingham scrapping retreat for the Kim Archer mini-album class on Saturday afternoon. So good to catch up with all those beautiful girls, and spend some time learning new techniques.

Kimmi came over from the Hunter Valley and it was so good to see her again, we had plenty to chat about! Kim stayed with me for the Home and Scrapped Retreat held at Oxley Island last October, she is like family to me!

It has been a rainy old weekend, perfect for scrapping!

I love learning new techniques to bring interest and texture to my scrapping layouts. This was a challenge set by Mistra over at Red Earth Scrapping, and it uses heaps of paint, glimmer mist, ink and texture paste.

Messy but fun!

I used this pic I took of the moon when it was close to Earth, with my little point and shoot Fuji camera. I was quite excited when it turned out so well!

It has been almost a month since I have visited my blog.........not through lack of trying, I might say. Google has been blocking me for some unknown reason that (being computer illiterate) I could not fathom. Anyway, I am here now, after fiddling with cookies and caches, so will make up for lost time! I have heaps of things to share........thanks for looking!

Build A Page

Mum has gone to stay with my brother for a few days, and after a busy week having a working bee in her garden (in the heat), I was happy to unwind doing a little scrapping.

These three layouts were for challenges on Home and Scrapped. 'Take 5' was a build-a-page challenge, and Good dog was a colour challenge. Using aqua, yellow and black, with some lace. Not colours I would generally use, but it came out OK! Nice to be out of the usual box sometimes!

I made this double LO this week, just because............

I was in the mood for scrapping....

I didn't have to think too hard about it.....

I wanted to recall the fun I had with the grandchildren during the school holidays.........

Yet more scrapping!

Use one black and white photo, two patterned papers, three embellishments, four lines of journalling and a five word title. This tells the story of my son's sheep who prefer to eat the plants in the garden to plain old grass in the paddocks. BAAAAAAAA!!!

I had to get up really early this morning to beat the heat, water the plants, the fish and the pets, then retired to the only air-con'd room in the house to scrap! Well, what else would I be doing on a sizzling hot day?

More scrapping

In spite of a very busy week, with demands on my time from family, business, and community stuff to deal with, throw in a physio appointment and finally the insurance assessment on my car... I still managed a couple of layouts. Yay!

It is sizzling hot here today...........I am off to cool down in front of the air-con! I hope all is well at your place this weekend.

Trying new things

It is good to try new techniques now and then, so that we don't get stuck in a rut. With this page I tried the 'negative space' technique, but I am not sure that it is really 'me' and I reckon I will go straight back to my usual cluttered style.

I have spent the day making base layouts for a friend's Mum who lost everything in the Queensland floods. Ten pages are ready to hit the post office. My friend will then add the photos and help her Mum finish the layouts. It seems like a small contribution in the face of such a vast loss, but I hope that it will, in some small way, help to restore confidence in the future.

A layout

I did this page for a challenge over at Home & Scrapped. Actually two challenges........the January title challenge and the build a page, combined. It is an old pic from the 1980's, one of my fave's of Tony and Jared having fun with an antique corn sheller.

Rainy day scrapping

It's a wet and dreary day today, so I gave up trying to get the washing dry and scrapped instead! These are two more of the January challenges over at Home and Scrapped. Two very different styles.........

The first was a sketch challenge and the second was a 'use your stash' layout. I managed to get seventeen different items on the page, but the stash has hardly a dent in it! I used this very old photo of my Great Grandparents, cute aren't they? I love the way Great Grandad is cuddling the cat.
